Toyota Violin-playing Robot

The Violin-playing Robot is capable of performing a variety of tasks with its hands and arms. Its delicacy of movement is best demonstrated by the fact it can play the violin. It can achieve vibrato on a violin similar to that created by humans, enabling it to play all the classic Christmas carols. The 1.5-metre tall Violin-playing Robot, equipped with a total of 17 joints in each of its hands and arms, uses precise control and coordination to achieve human-like agility. It could also be used to assist with domestic duties or nursing and medical care.

Left Handed Violin Playing, Part 1, by Ryan Thomson "You have a choice!"

Ryan's site - www.captainfiddle.com No such thing as a left handed violin? In Part 1 Ryan Thomson demonstrates left and right handed violins, and the differences between them. Ryan Thomson has learned to play violin at a professional level both left and right handed and can discuss the issue of playing either way from personal experience. In the Part 2 video he debunks the myth that left handed players have an advantage when they play violin right handed. He has written the world's first book about people who play violin left handed. The title is "Playing Violin and Fiddle Left Handed," and is available to order through his web site. The book contains a chapter on obtaining new left handed violins, converting right handed violins to lefty, and other options for playing. He writes about a virtuoso classical violinist who played left handed for a major symphony in the USA and several professional touring classical string quartets that had left handed playing violinists. Many non-classical fiddle players are listed also who perform jazz, celtic, and country music while playing left handed. Ryan has searched scientific sources for information to counter the myths and second hand anecdotes that promote the tired old mantra that left handed individuals must just give in and learn to play violin right handed. To access his second video, search "left handed violin playing part 2" Visit Ryan's web site for information about his performances, instructional videos, books, and ...
